Abstrak

The advancement of information technology has led to the rapid growth of electronic transactions, offering efficiency and convenience for consumers and business actors. Nevertheless, electronic transactions also raise legal issues, particularly regarding consumer protection. This study aims to analyze the forms of legal protection for consumers in electronic transactions in Indonesia and to assess the effectiveness of the existing legal framework. This research employs a normative legal research method using statutory and conceptual approaches. Legal materials are derived from laws and regulations, legal literature, and scholarly doctrines, which are analyzed qualitatively. The findings indicate that consumer protection in electronic transactions has been regulated through the Consumer Protection Law and the Law on Electronic Information and Transactions, providing both preventive and repressive protection mechanisms. However, the implementation remains less effective due to low consumer legal awareness, weak supervision of online business actors, and complex evidentiary procedures. Therefore, stronger supervision and enhanced legal and digital literacy are essential to ensure effective consumer protection in electronic transactions.
