Dyslipidemia Prevention Treatment

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease caused by atherosclerosis of blood vessel walls and thrombosis is a leading cause of death worldwide. The main clinical entities of these diseases are CHD, ischemic stroke, and peripheral artery disease. The causes of these diseases are multifactorial, some of which are modifiable. One modifiable risk factor is dyslipidemia. Dyslipidemia is caused by impaired lipid metabolism due to the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. Prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia cases are necessary to reduce the prevalence of this disease. Efforts that can be done include pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy, including diets that trigger cholesterol increases, regular exercise, stress prevention, taking cholesterol medication prescribed by a doctor, and consuming various herbal plants proven to be effective in treating dyslipidemia. The activity carried out was a socialization of the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia in Mojosongo Village, Surakarta. The participants who took part in this activity were 25 people from Mertoudan Hamlet, Mojosongo Village, Surakarta City. Based on the evaluation results, it was concluded that the participants were enthusiastic about the activities carried out. Participants in this activity were able to understand the material well, as evidenced by the many questions asked during the question and answer session at this activity.
