Abstract

This study aimed to explore the potential of anthraquinone compounds from Aloe vera as inhibitors of Aspulvinone Dimethylallyltransferase using an in silico approach. The prediction results revealed that anthraquinone exhibits strong activity with a Probability of Activity (Pa) of 0.932, indicating a high likelihood of binding to the target enzyme and inhibiting its activity. In contrast, the Probability of Inactivity (Pi) was very low (0.004), further supporting the prediction that this compound possesses significant pharmacological potential as an antifungal agent. Inhibition of Aspulvinone Dimethylallyltransferase is associated with the disruption of essential fungal metabolic processes, which in turn may suppress fungal growth and survival. These findings highlight the opportunity to develop natural-based antifungal therapies utilizing anthraquinone as a key active compound. Nevertheless, further investigations, including in vitro and in vivo studies, are required to validate the efficacy and safety of anthraquinone as a therapeutic option for fungal infections.
